Titanium bolts are strong, lightweight, and corrosion resistant, but they must be installed with care to avoid damage. Follow these guidelines for safe and proper use:
• Always apply a quality anti seize compound or ARP Ultra Torque lubricant to the threads before installation. Titanium threads can seize easily when dry due to friction.
• Use a calibrated torque wrench and follow the recommended torque values. Do not exceed the specs. Titanium does not stretch like steel and can break if over tightened.
• When installing multiple bolts, such as on a beadlock ring, use a crisscross pattern and tighten in small increments to evenly distribute the load.
• Make sure threads are clean and properly engaged. For best results, thread engagement should be at least one and a half times the diameter of the bolt.
• Do not use impact tools or power drivers. Use hand tools only to maintain control and avoid thread damage.
• For beadlock applications, confirm that your tire bead crush is within spec. A typical safe range is between 0.100 inch and 0.125 inch. Excessive crush can place too much stress on the bolts.
