Like all modular engines, tension on the driver side head is applied in the wrong direction causing inconsistencies in the position of the cams. This bracket flips the tensioner to apply pressure on the slack side of the secondary chain.

The bracket fixes tensioner direction, not wear. If the engine has been running locked cams, replace the secondary chain guides (EN045) and secondary chains (EN015) while the front cover is off — the two together are the secondary timing kit.
