This Whipple 4th-generation W175AX 2.9L (HPR) twin-screw supercharger system is purpose-built for the 2003-2004 Ford Mustang Cobra (Terminator) 4.6L supercharged, supporting boost approaching 25 psi with the right supporting modifications; the complete bolt-on configuration covers a 13 psi setup with no engine or PCM changes required on an otherwise-stock vehicle. Every system is engineered, machined, and assembled in-house at Whipple's Fresno, California headquarters as a complete, matched package — not an assortment of parts pieced together.
This 4th-generation W175AX 2.9L supercharger uses Whipple's High Pressure Ratio (HPR) design, optimized for the higher boost levels many Cobra owners target — supporting close to 25 psi with the right supporting modifications, for an aftermarket oval throttle body setup. An integrated air-bypass system in the discharge and a discharge plate for increased plenum area and air distribution lower supercharger air temps and power consumption versus the stock Eaton unit. Internally lubricated, no oil pan tapping required.
The complete bolt-on configuration includes what's needed for a 13 psi setup with no engine or PCM modifications on a stock vehicle; higher boost needs fuel and calibration upgrades. Tuning, fuel system, throttle body, and cold air are not included unless noted.
Emissions status: no current CARB Executive Order number was found published for this specific kit as of our research date — verify current emissions compliance with Whipple before selling into California or other CARB-regulated states.
